This tutorial shows you how easy it is to add a link to another site
Write your text
Write the text you want to be in your page or post.
Highlight the text you want to link
- Select the text you want to turn in to a link
- click on the "chain" icon to make a link (the button next to it removes a link)
Paste the URL
The URL is the address of the site or page you want to link to. Copy it from a web browser window and paste it into the box that appears on WordPress.
You can also add a "ttitle" – this is a short description that appears when you hover the mouse over the link. It’s also useful for partially sighted and blind users.
You can specify if you want the link to open in the current browser window (so the reader will move from your site) or in a new window (so your site will remain open).
When you’re done, click the "Add Link" button.
The end result
Now your text is linked. When you publish the page or post, the text will be clickable.
Don’t do this
A lot of people just paste the address and leave it at that. At the very least you should turn it in to a link.
Ideally, though, you shouldn’t put a URL in your text as it’s ugly. Write some text describing the site you’re linking to and make that the link!
