The new Samsung advert for their new phone blatantly takes the piss out of Apple users…

Do you think it’s a successful ad campaign? I think it’s quite clever but will it convert iphone users?

  1. It’s bizarre – relies on internet myths and pokes fun at people which is never a good way to win sales (see the Sainsbury’s ads with John Cleese for a classic case study).
    You win sales by answering wants – this ad would only appeal to Apple haters. See Aesop’s fable about the sun and the wind for why making fun of people doesn’t convert them…

  2. The Mac vs PC adverts work on a similar concept, although maybe a little less directly – Mac users are sexy young Justin Longs, and PC users are frumpy nerds with glasses and cheap suits.
